We have acquired a large hoard of 1964 Kennedy Halves for our new Overstrike series. We are overstriking them with images of famous U.S. coinage obverses and a common reverse that celebrates the series. In the first product of the series, we have redated the iconic Peace Dollar with the current year (2024). We will issue a new product in the series each month and update the year on each design in subsequent years. In 2024, ONLY 250 pieces will be minted for each product.

About the Morgan Dollar:

The Morgan dollar is a United States dollar coin minted from 1878 to 1904, 1921, and 2021, and began again in 2021 as a collectible. It was the first standard silver dollar minted since the passage of the Coinage Act of 1873, which ended the free coining of silver and the production of the previous design, the Seated Liberty dollar.

• Weight: 12.50 Grams (90% AG, 10% CU)
• Obverse: Liberty facing left with “E PLURIBUS UNUM above, stars on either side and the date (2024) below.
• Reverse: “OVERSTRIKE SERIES” above and below the obverse image of the 1964 Kennedy Half Dollar with the Intaglio Mint Logo flanked by stars on the left and right.  “1964 KENNEDY HALF,” “12.50 GRAMS,” TOTAL MINTAGE: 250,” “90% AG,” and “10% CU” around the outer circumference.

Note to collectors: Because this product is overstruck on another coin that has spent 60 years in circulation, each item will be unique and have its characteristics. Some will be brighter than others, and the position of the devices, both overstruck and original, will also differ from one to another.
