About the 1804 DOLLAR:
The 1804 Draped Bust Silver Dollar was born from a series of events and decisions that make it one of the most storied coins in U.S. history. Initially intended to be struck in 1804, no silver dollars were minted that year. The U.S. Mint ceased production of silver dollars after 1803 due to the rising value of silver bullion, which made it impractical to continue minting these coins. It was in the 1830s that the U.S. Mint finally began to produce the 1804 Draped Bust Silver Dollars. These coins were minted as part of diplomatic gift sets for presentation to foreign dignitaries and to satisfy the growing interest of collectors.
- Weight: 12.50 Grams (90% AG, 10% CU)
- Obverse: Draped bust Lady Liberty facing right with stars to the left and right, “LIBERTY” above and the date (2024) below.
- Reverse: “OVERSTRIKE SERIES” above and below the obverse image of the 1964 Kennedy Half Dollar with the Intaglio Mint Logo flanked by stars on the left and right. “1964 KENNEDY HALF,” “12.50 GRAMS,” TOTAL MINTAGE: 250,” “90% AG,” and “10% CU” around the outer circumference.
Note to collectors: Because this product is overstruck on another coin that has spent 60 years in circulation, each item will be unique and have its own characteristics.
